Fine :: 3.25PM
Dad left for Singapore on Thursday. We're all missing him very much.
(Though he can be very irritating at times.) But it's a good break for all of us (my older sis - J, my younger sis - S and me). You know how sometimes family members spend too much time together and people start invading your own space and time? Yeah. Anyway, the last lecture for semester 2 ended on Friday and it's exam fever from now till Nov 10th for me. Luckily I only have one examinable paper this semester. Haha.
Anyway, to celebrate and give ourselves a break, we held a movie marathon on Friday. Yup. Just us three girls.
I celebrated my last semester as a student, S celebrated the end (nearly anyway) of her first round of exams and J just wanted a break from all her work. We rented English DVDs from one video store, Chinese VCDs from another and we also had some BTs I downloaded. And the theme of the night was - Love.
So there we were, huddling comfortably on the sofa in our PJs, eating frozen TV dinners, instant noodles, etc on the sofa for 10 hours. I think we all turned into potatoes at the end of it.
Anyway, we started the marathon off with Wicker Park.
6.15PM Wicker Park

Well, what can I say about this movie? It's good. I'd recommend it. But as much as I want, I can't bring myself to say that I love it and it's a beautiful film. Alex is a selfish, psycho bitch, but Matthew is just as selfish too. He breaks it off with Rebecca when they were already at the marrying stage and chooses Lisa, whom he still loves all this while. Love is selfish, you can't satisfy everyone. If there is is a winner, there's bound to be a loser. Sounds cliche. Yeah I know. But that's just how it is. Alex didn't do anything wrong. She just loved Matthew too much and envied Lisa too much. It just depends on which perspective you're looking at it from. The only thing I loved about this film is its soundtrack! Just fantastic. (Anyone kind enough to upload it? Heh heh.
)
"Love makes you do crazy things, insane things. Things in a million years you'd never see yourself do. But there you are doing them... can't help it." (Alex in Wicker Park)
8.30PM The Wedding Date

Okay. This is a reeaaally cheesy girl flick. I admit.
All too predictable plots and storyline. The male version of 'Pretty Woman' but just not as great. (I bet the book's better.) Anyway, girl hires hunky escort to sister's wedding which girl's ex-boyfriend is also attending. Girl and escort fall in love, blah blah blah. You get the picture.
I think Dermot Mulroney is a dead ringer for Sylvester Stallone.

10.00PM ͯ‰ôÆ澉 (wait 'til you're older)

I don't know if it's a trend or he's trying to say something, but recently, Andy Lau's on screen characters all dies at the end. Either that or they have tragic endings. What's with that??
I mean, I don't think the sad endings are bad or anything. I guess I'm just a sucker for happy endings. Sigh. But this is a really touching film. Yeah... I cried.
I'm not going to spoil it for those who haven't seen it so I'm not going to reveal the ending. It's quite a pity that he wasn't nominated for the 'Best Actor' in the 'Golden Horse Awards'. Their reason was that the main focus of this film is on the make-up effects and not on his acting so..... yeah, I kinda agree. BUT! but but, it's still worth watching.
12.30PM ºÄ§ÔÚÉíß…

And finally.... we ended the marathon with this manga-based Taiwanese drama series. I've gotta admit that it's not too bad for an 'idol' drama serial. I've seen much worse. Anyway, this series is purely for entertainment. No brains needed (which I haven't got much left by now).
It wasn't until 4am before the three of us got to bed. Ahh... it feels good to just let go once in a while and leave reality. (we even left a sink full of dirty dishes.... hehe
